Company intelligence / Profile preview
A.G. Edwards & Sons was a prominent American financial services and stock brokerage firm founded in 1887 and headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. As one of the largest retail brokerage firms in the United States, it operated a vast network of offices providing wealth management, investment banking, and asset management services. Although the firm was active in underwriting and providing research for the healthcare and biotechnology industries, it was not a life sciences company itself. In 2007, the company was acquired by Wachovia Corporation for approximately $6.8 billion. Following the subsequent acquisition of Wachovia by Wells Fargo during the 2008 financial crisis, the A.G. Edwards brand was retired and integrated into Wells Fargo Advisors.
