Overview
Acusphere developed Imagify™—an injectable suspension of perflubutane polymer microspheres—for non-invasive detection of coronary artery disease. The company submitted an NDA to the FDA in April/June of 2008 but received a complete response letter in February of the following year requiring additional clinical trials before approval. A Marketing Authorization Application was also submitted to the EMA for European review. Other assets include AI‑525 and AI‑850 (sold to Cephalon), and AI‑128 for asthma developed with Elan. The company’s proprietary technology enables reformulation and sustained release of hydrophobic drugs.[2][6]
