Anthera’s lead drug candidate Sollpura (Liprotamase), a non-pig derived pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy intended for exocrine pancreatic insufficiency caused by cystic fibrosis and other diseases, underwent Phase III clinical trials. The RESULT study completed recruitment but ultimately failed to meet its primary endpoint of non-inferiority compared with existing porcine PERT therapies. Secondary endpoints showed some positive signals but were insufficient to continue development. Consequently, all further clinical development of Sollpura was suspended.

Blisibimod, a selective peptibody antagonist targeting BAFF involved in autoimmune diseases such as IgA nephropathy and systemic lupus erythematosus, has been evaluated in Phase II trials with some evidence suggesting slowing progression of proteinuria in IgA nephropathy patients. However, prior Phase III studies in lupus failed primary endpoints leading to discontinuation there.
