BIOA&D

BIOA&D (later renamed Biotrion) was a South Korean biotechnology company specializing in the development of biosimilars and gene therapies. The company gained prominence through a 2006 licensing agreement with Crucell for the PER.C6 production platform and ceNOS gene therapy technology, as well as a partnership with Mycenax to develop TuNEX, an etanercept biosimilar. TuNEX successfully reached Phase 3 clinical trials for rheumatoid arthritis in South Korea and Taiwan before the partnership was terminated in 2012. Following a rebranding to Biotrion, the company's development activities stalled, and it eventually became inactive by 2015. Its founder, Dr. Sang-Hoon Lee, subsequently led the biologics division at Hanwha Chemical and later founded ABL Bio.
