Company intelligence / Profile preview
Bob O'Leary Health Food Distributor was a leading American wholesale distributor specializing in vitamins, sports nutrition, and health food products. Founded in 1974 by bodybuilding pioneer Bob O'Leary in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the company grew to become one of the largest independent distributors of dietary supplements in the United States. It served as a vital link between supplement manufacturers and health food stores, gyms, and specialty retailers during the industry's rapid expansion in the 1980s and 1990s. The company was highly influential in the sports nutrition sector due to O'Leary's close ties with the International Federation of BodyBuilders (IFBB). In 1998, the business was acquired by Nature's Best, which was later integrated into KeHE Distributors.
