Overview
Cardium Therapeutics was a San Diego-based health sciences company focused on regenerative medicine and innovative therapies addressing cardiovascular diseases and wound care. Its lead product candidates included Generx®, a DNA-based gene therapy for myocardial ischemia that advanced through late-stage clinical trials, and Excellagen™, an FDA-cleared topical gel for chronic wounds. The company also developed the InnerCool Therapies endovascular cooling system before selling this business to Philips in July 2009. In March 2014, following a strategic collaboration with Shanxi Taxus Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd., the company changed its name to Taxus Cardium Pharmaceuticals Group Inc.
