Company intelligence / Profile preview
Cedars Medical Center was a prominent 560-bed acute-care hospital located in Miami, Florida. Originally founded in 1960 as Cedars of Lebanon Hospital, it grew to become one of the largest investor-owned hospitals in Florida under the ownership of Hospital Corporation of America (HCA). The facility provided a wide range of multi-specialty medical services, including cardiology, urology, orthopedics, and internal medicine. In late 2007, the University of Miami acquired the hospital for approximately $260 million, subsequently renaming it the University of Miami Hospital (now known as UHealth Tower) to serve as the flagship teaching hospital for the Miller School of Medicine.
