Control of Innate Immunity (CII) is a Japanese Collaborative Innovation Partnership (CIP) focused on the discovery and development of novel therapeutics targeting innate immune pathways. Established in 2017, the consortium brings together leading pharmaceutical companies, including Chugai Pharmaceutical, Ono Pharmaceutical, and Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma, in collaboration with academic researchers from Osaka University's Immunology Frontier Research Center (IFReC). The partnership aims to leverage advanced immunology research to identify new drug targets for autoimmune, inflammatory, and oncology indications. By combining academic expertise with industrial drug discovery capabilities, CII seeks to accelerate the translation of innate immunity science into clinical applications. The organization operates as a legal research association, facilitating shared resources and risk in the high-stakes field of early-stage drug discovery.
