Elliman, Sons & Co was a prominent 19th-century British pharmaceutical manufacturer based in Slough, England. Founded in 1847 by James Elliman, the company achieved international fame for its 'Elliman's Embrocation,' a topical liniment used for treating muscle and joint pain in both humans and animals. The business was a pioneer in mass-market advertising, utilizing distinctive illustrations and global distribution networks to establish its brand as a household name. In 1961, the company was acquired by Horlicks, which was later absorbed by the Beecham Group, eventually becoming part of the GSK portfolio. While the independent company no longer exists, it remains a significant case study in the history of pharmaceutical branding and consumer healthcare.
