FEI Women's Health

FEI Women's Health was a specialty medical device and pharmaceutical company dedicated to providing long-acting reversible contraceptive solutions for women. The company was best known for manufacturing and marketing ParaGard (T 380A), the only FDA-approved non-hormonal copper intrauterine device (IUD) indicated for up to 10 years of pregnancy prevention. Headquartered in North Tonawanda, New York, the company focused on providing contraceptive options to female healthcare practitioners and public health institutions. In November 2005, FEI Women's Health was acquired by Duramed Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Barr Pharmaceuticals, for approximately $281.5 million. Following the subsequent acquisition of Barr by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries in 2008, the ParaGard business was eventually divested to CooperSurgical in 2017 for $1.1 billion.
