Company intelligence / Profile preview
Greene & Hoffman was a prominent Boston-based law firm that specialized in whistleblower (qui tam) litigation and pharmaceutical fraud. The firm gained international recognition for its lead role in the landmark case Franklin v. Pfizer (originally Franklin v. Warner-Lambert), which exposed the illegal off-label marketing of the epilepsy drug Neurontin (gabapentin). This case resulted in a historic $430 million settlement in 2004 and established a major legal precedent for using the False Claims Act to prosecute pharmaceutical companies for deceptive marketing practices. The firm's work significantly impacted healthcare compliance and the regulation of drug promotion in the United States. Following the conclusion of its major pharmaceutical cases, the firm's principals transitioned to other practices, most notably Greene LLP.
