Company intelligence / Profile preview
H+P Labortechnik was a German manufacturer of laboratory equipment, best known for its pioneering work in magnetic stirring technology and steam sterilization. Founded in 1975, the company developed the 'Variomag' line of inductive magnetic stirrers, which became a standard in life science research for their maintenance-free and wear-free operation. In 2002, H+P Labortechnik AG was acquired by Thermo Electron Corporation (now Thermo Fisher Scientific) for approximately $10.4 million. While the magnetic stirrer business was integrated into Thermo's portfolio, the autoclave and sterilization division continued to operate independently as HP Labortechnik GmbH, which remains active today producing the VARIOKLAV series.
