Company intelligence / Profile preview
Hagströmer & Qviberg Fondkommission was a prominent Swedish investment bank and brokerage firm founded in 1990 by Sven Hagströmer and Mats Qviberg. The firm was a central figure in the Swedish financial sector, specializing in equity trading, investment research, and corporate finance advisory for growth companies. In 2006, the company rebranded as HQ Bank to reflect its expanded banking services and asset management capabilities. The institution faced a major crisis in 2010 when the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority revoked its banking license following the discovery of massive losses in its trading portfolio. Consequently, the bank's operations were acquired by Carnegie Investment Bank to protect depositors and maintain market stability. Although not a healthcare company itself, Hagströmer & Qviberg was instrumental in financing and listing numerous Nordic life science and biotechnology companies during its decades of operation.
