Hutzel Women's Hospital

Hutzel Women's Hospital is a historic healthcare institution located in Detroit, Michigan, and is a member of the Detroit Medical Center (DMC). Founded in 1868, it is Michigan's only hospital dedicated entirely to the care of women and newborns. The facility is nationally recognized for its expertise in high-risk obstetrics, maternal-fetal medicine, and neonatology. It also serves as a major teaching and research site, notably hosting the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Perinatology Research Branch. Hutzel is credited with several medical milestones, including the first successful in vitro fertilization in Michigan. Today, it continues to provide comprehensive gynecological and obstetric services as part of the larger DMC academic medical complex.
