J&W Seligman & Co. was a historic American investment firm founded in 1864 and headquartered in New York City. While originally established as an investment bank, it evolved into a prominent asset manager recognized for its specialized expertise in technology and healthcare investing. The firm was particularly noted for its Seligman Health Sciences Fund, which targeted growth-stage opportunities in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and medical technology. In November 2008, the company was acquired by Ameriprise Financial for approximately $440 million. Following the acquisition, its investment teams and funds were integrated into Columbia Management, which is now part of Columbia Threadneedle Investments.
