Overview
jCyte’s lead program, jCell, has shown positive results in earlier clinical trials for retinitis pigmentosa. The company recently announced a positive pre–Phase 3 FDA Type B meeting and plans to advance to Phase 3 trials. There are currently no FDA-approved therapies for RP; the treatment uses minimally invasive intravitreal injection of allogeneic retinal progenitor cells to preserve or restore vision in patients with degenerative retinal diseases. In May 2020, a major licensing deal was signed with Santen Pharmaceutical for ex-US rights.
