Laboratory of Pharmacology and Toxicology (LPT)

Laboratory of Pharmacology and Toxicology (LPT) was a German contract research organization (CRO) specializing in toxicology testing services, including ecotoxicology, pharmacodynamics, and toxicokinetics for drugs, chemicals, pesticides, and food additives. Founded in 1965 and family-owned, the company operated facilities in Hamburg and Mienenbüttel. LPT faced significant public criticism and legal issues due to animal welfare scandals, leading to its operating permit revocation in January 2020 (though temporarily reinstated in August 2020), and ultimately ceased operations by the end of 2022 after rebranding as Provivo Biosciences.
