Malone & Hyde was a prominent American wholesale food and pharmaceutical distributor headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee. Although primarily known for its grocery operations, the company maintained a significant presence in the healthcare sector through its ownership of retail pharmacy chains such as Super D Drugs and Petty's Drug Stores. In 1984, it became one of the first major companies to undergo a leveraged buyout by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR). The company was eventually acquired by Fleming Companies in 1988 for approximately $600 million. Its legacy includes the incubation of the automotive retailer AutoZone, which was originally a division of Malone & Hyde.
