Millennium & ILEX Partners

Millennium & ILEX Partners was a strategic joint venture established between Millennium Pharmaceuticals and ILEX Oncology to co-develop and commercialize the therapeutic monoclonal antibody Campath (alemtuzumab). The partnership successfully secured FDA approval for Campath in 2001 for the treatment of B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL) in patients who had failed prior therapies. Following the acquisition of ILEX by Genzyme in 2004 and Millennium by Takeda in 2008, the partnership's assets were eventually consolidated under Genzyme (now part of Sanofi). The entity played a pivotal role in the early commercialization of biologics in the oncology space. Today, the legacy of the partnership continues through the expanded use of alemtuzumab in both hematology and neurology.
