Niswonger Children's Hospital

Niswonger Children's Hospital is a regional pediatric medical center located in Johnson City, Tennessee, serving a 29-county area across Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, Southeast Kentucky, and Western North Carolina. As part of the Ballad Health system, the hospital provides specialized pediatric services including a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), pediatric oncology, cardiology, and surgery. Notably, it is one of only a few dozen St. Jude Affiliate Clinics in the United States, offering advanced cancer and blood disorder care to children in the Appalachian Highlands. The facility also serves as the primary teaching hospital for the East Tennessee State University (ETSU) Quillen College of Medicine. Through its partnership with ETSU, the hospital supports medical education and clinical research aimed at improving pediatric health outcomes in rural communities.
