Nyegaard & Co. was a Norwegian pharmaceutical company founded in 1874 that became internationally recognized for its research-driven approach and innovation in diagnostic imaging products. Its most notable product was Amipaque, a nonionic X-ray contrast agent developed in 1969, followed by Omnipaque. The company's success led to international expansion and eventual acquisition by larger entities. In the mid-to-late 1990s, it merged with British Amersham after being renamed Hafslund Nycomed.
