Pharmaceutical Technology & Services (PTS) was a major drug development and manufacturing division of Cardinal Health that served as the predecessor to Catalent. In 2007, the division was acquired by The Blackstone Group for approximately $3.3 billion and subsequently rebranded as Catalent Pharma Solutions. PTS was widely recognized for its advanced drug delivery technologies, most notably the Zydis fast-dissolve tablet platform and softgel encapsulation capabilities. The company provided a comprehensive range of services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms, including formulation development, clinical trial supply, and commercial-scale manufacturing. Today, its legacy and operations continue through Catalent, which has become one of the world's largest contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs).
