Prince George's Hospital Center was a major acute care teaching hospital located in Cheverly, Maryland, serving the residents of Prince George's County and the surrounding Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Founded in 1944, it operated as a regional referral center featuring a Level II Trauma Center, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and specialized units for cardiac and stroke care. In 2017, the hospital's parent organization, Dimensions Healthcare System, formally joined the University of Maryland Medical System, rebranding the facility as University of Maryland Prince George's Hospital Center. The hospital officially closed its doors in June 2021, with all operations and staff transitioning to the newly constructed University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center in Largo, Maryland. The legacy of the center continues through this new state-of-the-art facility which provides expanded healthcare services to the region.
