Saint Joseph's Health System

Saint Joseph's Health System is a non-profit Catholic healthcare organization based in Atlanta, Georgia, founded in 1881 by the Sisters of Mercy. As the operator of Atlanta's first hospital, it has a long-standing reputation for clinical excellence, particularly in the fields of cardiology, oncology, and robotic surgery. In 2012, the system formed a strategic joint venture with Emory Healthcare, resulting in the creation of Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital, which integrates academic research with community-based care. The system is a regional leader in specialty services, including vascular medicine and orthopedics, and is recognized for its high nursing standards. Historically, the system also supported medical innovation through the Saint Joseph's Translational Research Institute, which was a prominent site for preclinical medical device testing and cardiovascular research.
