Shanghai R&D Center

The Shanghai R&D Center, officially known as the Roche Innovation Center Shanghai (RICS), is a major research and development hub for Roche, established in 2004 as the first R&D center in China wholly owned by a multinational pharmaceutical company. The center focuses on the discovery and development of innovative therapies, particularly in the areas of infectious diseases (specifically Hepatitis B), immunology, and oncology. It operates as a fully integrated R&D site, encompassing drug discovery, clinical development, and translational medicine. RICS plays a critical role in Roche's global strategy to address unmet medical needs in China and globally, leveraging local talent and academic collaborations.
