Company intelligence / Profile preview
Whoopi & Maya was a medical cannabis company co-founded in 2016 by actress Whoopi Goldberg and cannabis industry veteran Maya Elisabeth. The company specialized in products specifically formulated to provide relief from menstrual cramps and discomfort, addressing a market segment often overlooked by the broader industry. Its product line, known as the Synergy line, included a bath soak (Soak), a raw cacao edible (Savor), a topical salve (Rub), and a tincture (Relax), all infused with varying ratios of THC and CBD. The products were designed to be used individually or in combination to manage symptoms of dysmenorrhea and premenstrual syndrome. Despite achieving significant commercial success and distribution in over 300 dispensaries across California and Colorado, the company ceased operations in February 2020. The closure was primarily attributed to irreconcilable internal disagreements between the founders and the complexities of adapting to California's evolving regulatory landscape for adult-use cannabis.
