(S)-4-bromo-3-hydroxy-3-methylbutyl diphosphate is a synthetic small molecule belonging to the class of organic diphosphates. It is structurally related to isopentenyl pyrophosphate analogs and has been studied primarily as an experimental tool compound. This compound acts as a potent, irreversible inhibitor of the enzyme isopentenyl pyrophosphate/dimethylallyl pyrophosphate isomerase (IPPI), which plays a key role in the mevalonate pathway.
