Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**(S)-pindolol benzoate + semaglutide is an investigational combination of two pharmaceutical agents intended for evaluation in metabolic and cardiovascular disease settings, particularly obesity. (S)-pindolol benzoate is the S-enantiomer of pindolol, a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor antagonist (beta blocker) that can modulate cardiac output and possibly metabolism. Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist that lowers blood glucose, promotes weight loss, and reduces appetite and cardiovascular risk. Recent clinical initiatives are investigating the use of (S)-pindolol benzoate in obese patients, including those who have ceased GLP-1 receptor agonist therapy, to address risks of rapid weight regain. Both drugs exert their effects through complementary mechanisms on appetite regulation, cardiovascular remodeling, and energy homeostasis.**
