Drug intelligence / Profile preview
[{2-bromo-4-[(2R)-3-oxo-2,3-diphenylpropyl]phenyl}(difluoro)methyl]phosphonic acid is an experimental small molecule inhibitor of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B). PTP1B is a negative regulator of insulin and leptin signaling pathways. Inhibition of PTP1B has been investigated as a therapeutic strategy for metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and obesity. This compound has demonstrated potent inhibitory activity against PTP1B in biochemical assays and structural studies have confirmed its binding to the enzyme's active site. It has not been approved for clinical use and remains at the experimental stage[1][5][10].
