**[11C]-DMDPA** is a radiolabeled quaternary ammonium salt, specifically [11C]-dimethyldiphenylammonium trifluoromethanesulfonate, developed as a novel positron emission tomography (PET) myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) agent. It displays rapid, high, and sustained cardiac uptake as well as favorable distribution kinetics relative to blood and adjacent non-target organs in preclinical animal models. Its metabolic stability and imaging properties compare favorably to clinically used PET-MPI probes. The mechanism of cardiac uptake is hypothesized to be related to the compound’s cationic nature, analogous to technetium and other ammonium salt-based perfusion agents, but the precise molecular target for myocardial uptake is not fully elucidated[1][4].
