[11C]OCS5 is a radiolabeled positron emission tomography (PET) tracer specifically developed to image the oxytocin receptor (OXTR) in the human brain. It is a Carbon-11 labeled version of OCS5, a high-affinity and selective non-peptide oxytocin receptor antagonist. The tracer is primarily used in clinical research to map the density and distribution of oxytocin receptors, which play a critical role in social behavior, emotional processing, and the pathophysiology of neuropsychiatric disorders such as autism spectrum disorder. By providing a non-invasive method to quantify OXTR expression in vivo, [11C]OCS5 facilitates the study of the oxytocinergic system's involvement in human social cognition and its potential as a biomarker for therapeutic response.
