Drug intelligence / Profile preview
[11C]SL2511.88 (also known as [11C]SL25.1188) is a carbon-11 labeled, reversibly binding positron emission tomography (PET) radioligand that selectively targets monoamine oxidase B (MAO-B). Originally developed as a selective MAO-B inhibitor by Sanofi-Synthélabo, the compound was subsequently translated into a PET radiotracer for clinical neuroimaging. Because MAO-B is highly expressed in astrocytes and upregulated during neuroinflammation, [11C]SL2511.88 serves as an in vivo biomarker for astrogliosis. It is widely used in clinical research to investigate neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative processes across various conditions, including major depressive disorder (MDD), bipolar depression, traumatic brain injury (TBI), posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Alzheimer's disease (AD), and alcohol use disorder (AUD).
