[161Tb]Tb-PSMA-I&T is a radioligand therapy that combines the radionuclide Terbium-161 with a PSMA-targeting molecule (PSMA-I&T) for the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). It works by delivering targeted radiation to PSMA-positive cancer cells. Terbium-161 emits both beta particles and abundant Auger electrons, which potentially provides enhanced therapeutic efficacy compared to established Lutetium-177-based PSMA therapies, particularly for micrometastases and single tumor cells. The Auger electrons deposit a higher concentration of radiation over a shorter path length, which may be more effective for treating small metastatic deposits.
