[177Lu]Lu-PSMA-137 is a radiopharmaceutical designed for targeted therapy, primarily investigated for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Developed by Peking University First Hospital, this drug utilizes Lutetium-177 ([177Lu]), a beta-emitting radioisotope, conjugated to a ligand that specifically targets Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA). PSMA is a protein highly expressed on the surface of prostate cancer cells. Upon binding to PSMA, [177Lu]Lu-PSMA-137 delivers localized radiation, leading to DNA damage and subsequent death of the cancer cells. It is currently in early-phase clinical development for mCRPC.
