[18F] JNJ-64326067 is a novel isoquinoline derivative developed as a positron emission tomography (PET) radiopharmaceutical tracer for the detection and quantitation of tau protein aggregates in the brain, primarily associated with Alzheimer's disease. It acts as a tau aggregate inhibitor with high affinity and selectivity for tau over β-amyloid aggregates, enabling imaging of neurofibrillary tangles characteristic of Alzheimer's pathology. The tracer shows minimal off-target binding including to monoamine oxidases A and B, which can confound imaging results. It was developed by Janssen Global Services LLC and is intended for diagnostic use in nervous system diseases such as Alzheimer's disease through PET imaging to assess tau pathology burden non-invasively.
