Overview

[18F]AlF-NODA-C6-CTHRSSVVC (also studied as [18F]AlF-NODA-MP-C6-CTHRSSVVC) is a positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracer developed for imaging tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), specifically targeting the CD163 receptor expressed on M2-type macrophages. The tracer consists of the synthetic peptide CTHRSSVVC, which mimics the CD163 and TNF-α tripeptide "RSS" motif, conjugated to a NODA-MP-C6 chelator and radiolabeled with aluminum [18F]fluoride ([18F]AlF). It was developed by researchers at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) in collaboration with the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS). Preclinical studies in tumor-bearing mice have demonstrated that the tracer can visualize CD163-positive tumor-infiltrating macrophages, with tumor uptake correlating with CD163 expression levels.
