Drug intelligence / Profile preview
[18F]AlF-NOTA-KR12C is a novel peptide-based positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracer designed for the non-invasive, real-time in vivo imaging of G-quadruplex (G4) secondary structures in solid tumors. Developed by researchers at Southern Medical University and Guangdong University of Technology, the tracer consists of the KR12C peptide (a mutant of the human cathelicidin LL37-derived FK13 peptide) conjugated to a NOTA chelator and radiolabeled with fluorine-18 via aluminum fluoride ([18F]AlF) chemistry. It specifically binds to G-quadruplex structures, such as the telomeric G-quadruplex 4Telo21 and the c-MYC promoter G-quadruplex Pu27, which are highly prevalent in various malignancies. In preclinical studies, [18F]AlF-NOTA-KR12C demonstrated favorable tumor-targeting properties, rapid clearance from non-target organs, and high tumor-to-background ratios in breast, liver, and cervical cancer models, making it a promising candidate for broad-spectrum cancer imaging.
