Drug intelligence / Profile preview
[18F]CVN636 is a fluorine-18 labeled radiopharmaceutical developed as a positron emission tomography (PET) imaging tracer for neuroimaging of the metabotropic glutamate receptor 7 (mGluR7). It is synthesized from a boronic ester precursor of CVN636, a highly potent and selective mGluR7 positive allosteric modulator (originally identified as an allosteric agonist) developed by Cerevance and Takeda. Preclinical PET imaging of [18F]CVN636 in Sprague-Dawley rats demonstrated rapid brain penetration followed by swift washout and low overall brain uptake, which may limit its utility for in vivo neuroimaging of mGluR7.
