Drug intelligence / Profile preview
[18F]F-BODIPY-PSMA is a bimodal (dual-imaging) radiolabeled peptidomimetic targeting the prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) for the PET and fluorescence imaging of prostate cancer. It consists of a Glu-CO-Lys PSMA-binding motif conjugated via an aminohexanoic acid (Ahx) spacer to a boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY) fluorophore. The BODIPY core is radiolabeled with fluorine-18 via Lewis-acid-catalyzed isotopic 18F/19F exchange. This dual-modality probe combines the high sensitivity and deep tissue penetration of positron emission tomography (PET) with the high spatial resolution of optical fluorescence imaging, making it a promising candidate for both non-invasive diagnostic imaging and fluorescence-guided surgery of prostate cancer.
