Overview
**[18F]FPEB** is a fluorine-18-labeled radiopharmaceutical used as a PET (positron emission tomography) imaging agent to quantify and visualize **metabotropic glutamate receptor subtype 5 (mGluR5)** in the living human brain. It is a synthetic, high-affinity, negative allosteric modulator at the mGluR5 allosteric sites, with nanomolar potency (\(K_i\) in rats ~0.2 nM) and high specific activity suitable for imaging. It has been widely validated for **investigating neuropsychiatric and neurological disorders** linked to altered glutamatergic signalling, such as Parkinson's disease, major depressive disorder, addictions, schizophrenia, and autism. Safety studies indicate it is well tolerated with favorable radiation dosimetry for human PET studies[1][3][5][6].
