[18F]FZTA is an investigational radiopharmaceutical developed by the Washington University School of Medicine for use in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. It is a fluorine-18 labeled small molecule that specifically targets the sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 1 (S1P1), a protein that is often upregulated during neuroinflammatory processes. By binding to S1P1, [18F]FZTA enables the non-invasive visualization and quantification of inflammatory activity in the central nervous system. It is primarily being evaluated as a diagnostic imaging tool for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) to help clinicians monitor disease activity, assess neuroinflammation, and potentially evaluate the efficacy of disease-modifying therapies.
