Overview

[18F]GTP1 is a deuterated small-molecule positron emission tomography (PET) imaging agent developed for the in vivo detection of tau neurofibrillary tangles in the brains of patients with Alzheimer's disease. It binds with high affinity and selectivity to aggregated tau protein without significant off-target binding to β-amyloid plaques or monoamine oxidase B (MAO-B), making it a specific radiopharmaceutical for visualizing tau pathology. The tracer demonstrates favorable dosimetry and brain kinetics in humans and is used primarily as a diagnostic tool to assess tau burden longitudinally in Alzheimer's disease research and clinical trials[2][4][6].
