Overview

[18F]MK-9470 is a selective, high-affinity inverse agonist (human IC50, 0.7 nM) for the cannabinoid CB1 receptor (CB1R) developed for use in human brain imaging. It's a positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracer that allows for non-invasive visualization and quantification of CB1 receptor expression in vivo. The tracer shows high specific binding in brain regions known to express CB1 receptors, including the cerebral cortex, cerebellum, caudate/putamen, globus pallidus, substantia nigra, and hippocampus. It's primarily used as a research tool for studying CB1 receptor biology and pharmacology in neuropsychiatric disorders and for evaluating target engagement in clinical trials of CB1 receptor inverse agonists.
