Overview

[18F]MODAG-009 is a fluorine-18 labeled positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracer developed by MODAG GmbH for the non-invasive imaging of alpha-synuclein (α-syn) aggregates in the brain. Alpha-synuclein misfolding and aggregation are the pathological hallmarks of synucleinopathies, a group of neurodegenerative disorders that includes Parkinson's disease (PD), Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), and Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB). As a diagnostic imaging agent, [18F]MODAG-009 is designed to cross the blood-brain barrier and bind with high affinity and selectivity to α-syn deposits, enabling the quantification and visualization of protein pathology in living patients. This capability is intended to support early and accurate diagnosis, patient stratification in clinical trials, and the monitoring of disease progression or therapeutic response to α-syn-targeting treatments.
