Overview

[18F]NOTA-ABY030 is a radiopharmaceutical diagnostic agent composed of an anti-EGFR affibody molecule (ABY030) conjugated with the chelator NOTA, which is then radiolabeled with Fluorine-18 ([18F]). This agent is designed for Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) imaging. Its mechanism involves the specific binding of the anti-EGFR affibody component to the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), which is frequently overexpressed in various cancer types. The small size of the affibody molecule contributes to rapid clearance and improved tumor-to-background contrast, enhancing its diagnostic utility. It is currently being evaluated in clinical trials for its safety, tolerability, and diagnostic performance in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) to identify indeterminate primary and/or metastatic lesions.
