Overview
[18F]PBR06 is a second-generation positron emission tomography (PET) radioligand that targets the 18-kDa translocator protein (TSPO), which is overexpressed on activated microglia and macrophages. It is labeled with fluorine‑18, providing a longer half-life and improved imaging characteristics compared to earlier TSPO ligands. The compound enables non-invasive imaging of neuroinflammation and has been used in research for multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, ischemic stroke, multiple system atrophy, and atherosclerosis. Its mechanism involves binding to TSPO in areas of inflammation or microglial activation[2][3][4][5][6][7].
