[68Ga]Ga-13.1d is a radiopharmaceutical conjugate designed for the targeted imaging of prostate cancer. It is part of a series of twelve prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) ligands conjugated with the chelating agent DOTA and radiolabeled with the positron emitter Gallium-68 ($^{68}$Ga). The molecule is a peptidomimetic small molecule that binds with high affinity to PSMA, also known as glutamate carboxypeptidase II (GCPII), a type II transmembrane protein that is significantly overexpressed in prostate cancer cells. By targeting PSMA, the conjugate allows for the localization of primary and metastatic prostate cancer lesions via positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. In preclinical studies, this series of conjugates was evaluated for physicochemical stability, binding affinity, and internalization in PSMA-expressing LNCaP cell lines to optimize the tumor-to-background ratio for diagnostic applications.
