[68Ga]Ga-13.3a is an experimental radiopharmaceutical conjugate designed for the positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of prostate cancer. It consists of a small-molecule ligand targeting prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), also known as glutamate carboxypeptidase II (GCPII), which is linked to the chelating agent DOTA and radiolabeled with the positron-emitting isotope Gallium-68 (68Ga). PSMA is a type II transmembrane protein that is significantly overexpressed in prostate cancer cells, particularly in advanced and metastatic stages, making it a highly specific target for diagnostic imaging. [68Ga]Ga-13.3a was developed as part of a series of DOTA-conjugated PSMA ligands to optimize binding affinity, cellular internalization, and in vivo pharmacokinetics. Preclinical studies indicate that these conjugates possess high affinity for PSMA-expressing tissues, providing a potential tool for the detection and staging of prostate malignancies.
