[68Ga]Ga-HKG301 is a diagnostic radiopharmaceutical consisting of the fibroblast activation protein (FAP)-targeting ligand HKG301 labeled with the positron-emitting isotope gallium-68. It is designed for use in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging to detect and characterize solid tumors, specifically by targeting FAP expressed on cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in the tumor stroma. Developed by Odense University Hospital, it is currently being evaluated in the FAPILOUS clinical trial for the staging and restaging of primary breast cancer, where it is compared against standard [18F]FDG PET/CT imaging. The tracer aims to provide high-contrast imaging of FAP-positive lesions, which are prevalent in breast cancer and other stroma-rich malignancies.
