[89Zr]Zr-DFO-emapalumab is a radiolabeled monoclonal antibody-based diagnostic agent designed for immunoPET imaging. It consists of emapalumab, an anti-interferon gamma (IFNγ) monoclonal antibody, conjugated to the chelator DFO and labeled with the positron emitter zirconium-89 ([^89Zr]). The drug targets IFNγ, a cytokine involved in immune responses and inflammation. Its primary mechanism is binding to IFNγ, enabling non-invasive PET imaging of IFNγ expression in vivo. This allows assessment of immune activity within tumors or inflammatory lesions and monitoring response to immunotherapies such as immune checkpoint inhibitors. The agent is under clinical investigation primarily for use in oncology (notably non-small cell lung cancer) and potentially other diseases characterized by altered IFNγ activity[1][2][3].
